Gun Blasts and Glass Bullets is a series of work that focuses on the bullet. Graphite drawings on plywood are informed by scientific photographs documenting the shock waves that result from gunfire. These drawings represent what happens to the air 18 inches from the barrel of a gun after the trigger is pulled.
Glass Bullets - installation detail
The molds for the bullets are made directly from military caliber rounds: .223 caliber used in an M-16 rifle, .45 caliber used in a semi-automatic pistor and a .30 caliber used in an M-1 rifle. The bullets are cast in clear glass and mounted with radiator hose clamps and threaded rod.
